IUCN

Gender equality and equity are matters of fundamental human rights and social justice, as well as a pre-condition for sustainable development and the achievement of IUCN’s mission.

Policies

Policies are mechanisms through which processes are institutionalized. At the present, the formulation of policies currently faces a major challenge. In light of the global movements leading to a new millennium based on equity and equality, and within the human rights principles, policies cannot continue being "neutral". Within their stances and actions, it is essential to consider the fact that the living conditions and needs of women and men differ, depending on the cultural, economic, political, ideological and environmental context in which they take place.

In this section you will find tools, guidelines and official policies that mainstream the gender equity approach.
